Student Representation
HGSE Student Representation Overview
Student voice is important in shaping the academic, professional, and social opportunities of students at HGSE. The Student Advisory Boards (SAB) for master’s programs provide an avenue through which students can share ideas and feedback regarding the program experience. As leaders within their respective programs, SAB members actively contribute to informing and developing student-centered events and initiatives throughout the academic year.
In addition to their work at the program level, SAB members act as liaisons between students within their programs and the HGSE faculty/administration. Once per semester, all program SAB members are invited to attend a Convening of Student Program Representatives (CSPR). CSPRs provide a platform for students to discuss challenges and opportunities that impact the broader HGSE student population. Hosted by the Office of Student Affairs, these meetings often include key administrators who can provide insights and guidance on the discussion topics. SAB members will be tasked with submitting agenda items to the Office of Student Affairs in advance of the CSPRs. At least one SAB member from each program is required to attend the semesterly CSPRS.
Participation in SABs is managed at the program level. Interested students should be in touch with their program staff to be advised on the application process.
Doctoral student representation from PhD and Ed.L.D. students is also welcomed and encouraged; please be in touch with the Director for Doctoral Studies if interested in representing either program at the CSPR.
