The mission of the Academic Language and Literacy Initiative (ALLI) is to create an interdisciplinary community focused on understanding and advancing the role of language in literacy, learning, and educational development. ALLI will aim to bring together students with diverse academic and professional perspectives to explore research, practice, and innovation related to language and literacy.

To foster an environment to advance safe, responsible AI in education - empowering the community to build, evaluate, and hold open conversations on evidence-based tools that serve learners of all ages and backgrounds.

The purpose of Experiential Learning Hub HGSE is to bring together educators, learning designers, and leaders in educational spaces passionate about the benefits of experiential learning.

The HGSE Asia Education Society aims to create more opportunities for students to learn about education across Asia through discussion, exchange, and direct engagement. We believe that education takes place not only in classrooms, but also in everyday life, through human connection, and across a lifetime of learning and exploration.

The HGSE Executive Education Group connects students at the Harvard Graduate School of Education who share an interest in Executive Education and Lifelong Learning, fostering an inclusive community that encourages open dialogue and collaboration. By building meaningful relationships and sharing diverse perspectives, the group aims to enhance the academic experience at HGSE through networking, knowledge sharing and events.

The HGSE Global Education Leadership Collective (HGSE-GELC) is a student-led community grounded in HGSE’s mission to “Learn to Change the World,” connecting individuals interested in global education, leadership, and cross-cultural learning. HGSE-GELC seeks to creates space for dialogue, shared learning, and reflective practice where students can explore international education opportunities, examine issues of equity and culture across global contexts, and engage with the real-world application of their academic experiences.

The mission of Harvard Graduate School of Education Student Literary Outreach is to connect HGSE students with meaningful community-based literacy experiences. Through partnerships with Boston Children’s Hospital and other local organizations, we create reading groups, writing activities, and literary programs that support children’s engagement with stories and self-expression. The organization also brings HGSE students together to volunteer, gain hands-on experience working with children and families, and apply ideas from education, child development, and literacy in real-world settings.

HGSE Reading & Dialogue Commons aims to create an open, low-barrier community where students can connect through books, ideas, and meaningful conversation. We bring together people across programs, backgrounds, and disciplines to explore literature, education, social issues, and the humanities through regular reading gatherings, discussions, and guest conversations.

SAGE is an initiative dedicated to inclusive early childhood education and development with a focus on children who learn and develop differently. With SAGE, I wish to create a space for HGSE students passionate about early childhood to connect with one another, learn from professionals working in early intervention, inclusive education, child development, and advocacy to build the knowledge and skills to support and empower young children with learning differences and developmental delays.

Our mission is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where we can promote cultural awareness, advocate for justice in Palestine and empower our community through education. We strive to celebrate Palestinian culture, heritage and narrative while building solidarity and community.

The mission of the Liberatory Educators Circle is to engage in dialogue and action related to anti-oppressive education and creating a more just society for youth. We are grounded in the principles of restorative justice and community cultivation.  

To build an interdisciplinary global community that equips educators and practitioners to understand and advance inclusion for disabilities by connecting them with academic, research, and professional opportunities.

The content creation club builds a community of people who enjoy posting on social media and filmmaking.

A group of HGSE art, animation, and film lovers are coming together to reimagine animation production as an educational and relational process instead of an industrial pipeline, with a goal of creating a short animated film by the end of the academic year with communities within and beyond HGSE.

The mission of The Butterfly Art Club is to cultivate aliveness through art by helping students feel more present, curious, expressive, and connected. Through hands-on workshops, museum visits, performances, peer-led activities, and collaborative projects, The Butterfly promotes creativity, well-being, belonging, and meaningful personal and community growth.

HGSE Crayon Club is a club to bring together HGSE students who want to decompress and connect with other students through a shared love for drawing and art, particularly drawing from life around us. No expertise in art is needed, anyone can draw and we can share tips and learn from one another.

HGSE Hobbyists aims to give HGSE students a space to tap into their creative skills and curiosity through learning new arts & crafts-related hobbies. Hobbies include (but are not limited to) crocheting, knitting, jewelry making, junk journaling, and more! HGSE Hobbyists provides a low-stakes/low-stress opportunity for students of all levels to learn a new skill, de-stress from school, and have fun.

The HGSE Music Education, Performance, and Cultural Exchange Society brings together HGSE students interested in music education, artistic performance, and cross-cultural exchange. Its mission is to explore how music and the arts contribute to learning, human development, cultural understanding, and community building.

HGSE Outdoor Painting Club unites HGSE students through outdoor observation and art-making. Through regular plein air painting and drawing sessions, the organization creates space for students to slow down, step outside the demands of academic life, and pay closer attention to the people, places, and environments around them.

Our mission is to use podcasting, interviews, and storytelling to connect the HGSE community with people, ideas, and perspectives they might not otherwise encounter. Grounded in a broad understanding of education as lifelong learning, we hope to create conversations across disciplines, schools, professions, and stages of life — bringing together students, faculty, alumni, practitioners, creators, and other guests from across Harvard and beyond. Through these conversations, we will explore meaningful questions about education, careers, identity, society, personal interests, and the choices people make in how they learn, work, and live. The “Co-” in our name reflects this open-ended spirit — connecting, collaborating, co-creating, co-lead, co-learn etc. To continually finding new ways to learn and build community together.

Our mission is to create an inclusive and welcoming space for students to share their creativity, talents, and stories. Whether through music, poetry, comedy, dance, or other forms of expression, we hope to foster connection, encourage new voices, and build community through the arts.

ZineHGSE is a literary and arts magazine that is student-centered and student-run focused on sharing the art and writing of HGSE students. The zine will collect student creative work throughout the academic year and will publish a digital and physical copy of the magazine in April. This organization will highlight the creativity of HGSE students and bring the community together around a shared appreciation of art and literature.

The purpose of Connections @ HGSE is to create a space for students who are part of the online masters programs and residential programs to connect in to the wider Harvard community. 

HGSE Students with Kids creates a welcoming and supportive community for HGSE students who are parents and caregivers. Through family-friendly gatherings, playdates, and community events, we aim to provide genuine support for student parents while naturally building meaningful relationships among HGSE families and giving our children opportunities to play, form friendships, and feel part of the HGSE community.

"Safe Space cultivates an inclusive and compassionate community where students can experience belonging, develop self-awareness, build authentic relationships, and strengthen their well-being. Through community circles, mindfulness and meditation, reflective practices, wellness education, and connections to mental health resources, we create opportunities to pause, listen, connect, and grow. We believe wellness is both personal and collective. By learning to care for ourselves and one another, we seek to build a campus culture grounded in empathy, psychological safety, meaningful connection, and human flourishing."

Comunidad HGSE cultivates a welcoming and empowering community for Latin students, allies, and co-conspirators at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. We celebrate the richness and diversity of Latinx identities, foster meaningful connection and mutual support, and advance educational equity through dialogue, advocacy, professional development, and community engagement. Rooted in solidarity and collective care, we seek to ensure that Latine voices, knowledge, and experiences inform and strengthen education at HGSE and beyond.

"The Eurasian Student Association brings together HGSE students with ties to the 15 former Soviet republics--Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan — and their diasporas.The group will create a space for students to connect, celebrate their cultures, and share traditions through social events, food, music, holidays, and other cultural programming. The association recognizes that these countries have distinct cultures, histories, and identities, while also giving students a space to connect around experiences they may share."

To elevate and bring awareness to the voices and experiences of first-generation students at HGSE and across the broader Harvard community, while building community and expanding access to opportunities that support their academic achievement, professional development, social connection, and overall well-being.

The Korean Organization will serve both as a community-building space for Korean students and as a bridge between Korean culture and the broader HGSE community. By combining regular social programming with inclusive cultural events, we hope to foster lasting relationships, meaningful cross-cultural exchange, and a vibrant community that extends well beyond individual events.

The Black Student Union (BSU) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) cultivates and celebrates Black culture while promoting proactive leadership, scholarship, community outreach, and student empowerment.

Our mission is to elevate the voices, experiences, and needs of transfer students and students from community college backgrounds at HGSE and across the broader Harvard community, while building community and expanding access to the academic, professional, and social opportunities that support their success and well-being.

HGSE Mexico’s mission is to build a strong and inclusive community centered on three interconnected pillars: belonging, representation, and learning. First, we seek to create a space where Mexican students at HGSE can connect, support one another, celebrate their shared identity, and collaborate across programs and interests. Second, we aim to strengthen Mexico’s presence within HGSE, contribute a distinctly Mexican perspective to the broader Latin American community, and connect our members with Mexico-related organizations, events, and initiatives across Harvard. Third, we aspire to create opportunities for intellectual exchange by exploring educational and social issues relevant to Mexico, inviting the wider HGSE community to learn and engage alongside us, and building relationships with Mexican scholars, practitioners, and leaders who can share their knowledge and experiences.

Living History in Color @ HGSE is a space for BIPOC students to imagine, create, and show up in historical and fantastical spaces that have often excluded or underrepresented people of color. Even fictional figures such as fairies face the question of who’s “allowed” to dress up like one, proving these spaces were never really about accuracy but about exclusion. Living History in Color does not seek to rewrite history or serve primarily as a space for historical education. Instead, we seek to create opportunities for people of color to try something new and show up unapologetically with people who look like us. We claim space to be who we want to be: knights, nobles, fairies, revolutionaries. Everyone is welcome, but this space exists especially for people of color seeking peers, support, and creative freedom to try it for the first time.

The SWANA Student Association brings together HGSE students with ties to Southwest Asia and North Africa and their diasporas. The group will create opportunities for students to meet one another, celebrate their cultures, and share traditions through social events, food, music, holidays, and other cultural programming. The association is also open to HGSE students who are interested in learning about and celebrating SWANA cultures.

The mission of EdVoice at the Harvard Graduate School of Education is to empower graduate students to critically engage with the political forces shaping education policy. Through rigorous debate, student-led advocacy initiatives, and a premier speaker series featuring state and national political leaders, we aim to bridge the gap between educational theory and political action to foster systemic, equitable change.

Global Education Policy Exchange is a student-led organization committed to bringing students, ideas, leadership, and diverse stakeholders together to help shape a more equitable and transformative future for education. Founded on the belief that education is central to expanding opportunity, strengthening communities, and advancing human potential, GEPE seeks to create spaces where students engage with the people and ideas influencing education systems around the world, including educators, researchers, innovators, policymakers, civil society leaders, cabinet ministers, heads of state and government, and other global leaders.

The HGSE Student Law Society connects students interested in the intersection of education, law, policy, and public service. Our mission is to make legal education and the legal profession more accessible to the HGSE community by supporting students considering law school, creating opportunities to engage with legal scholars and practitioners, and organizing conversations about the laws and institutions that shape education.

The HGSE Political Integrity Project engages HGSE students in conversations about civic education and campaign finance, with a focus on opportunities for local civic engagement.

Corporate Learning & Development Conversations (CLDC) brings students into conversation with corporate Learning & Development leaders to understand what L&D looks like in practice. 

Education in the News is a student-led organization that provides HGSE students with opportunities to strengthen their writing, research, and communication skills by creating accessible news articles about education. Through student-authored publications, discussions, workshops, and events, the organization explores current education research, policy, practice, and emerging issues. Our purpose is to encourage informed dialogue, develop students’ ability to communicate complex education topics to diverse audiences, and contribute meaningful educational perspectives to the broader community.

We are on a mission to develop, equip, and inspire leaders for the benefit of all mankind. We do this by bringing people together, as a learning community, to learn from and network with outstanding leaders.

To educate students about venture capital, pathways into VC careers, the startup and edtech ecosystem, and the fundraising landscape through programming and conversations with investors, founders, and industry leaders.

HGSE Women in Business & Innovation is a community for students who primarily identify as female or non-binary (all genders welcome) and who are committed to advancing equity, innovation, and leadership through business in the education sector. Our mission is to create a collaborative space where people with diverse identities, disciplines, and career goals can explore how business strategy, management, and entrepreneurial thinking can transform learning, expand opportunity, and drive social impact.

iCreate exists to widen access to creative, innovative, entrepreneurial, and interdisciplinary spaces by creating opportunities for students to connect, learn, experiment, collaborate, and build. The organization is especially committed to reducing gatekeeping and helping people who may not yet identify as creators, founders, technologists, artists, or entrepreneurs see themselves as legitimate participants in innovation.

The public speaking club at HGSE is to help build public speaking skills and build community.

To create a welcoming community that explores life, faith, Scripture through deep conversation, prayer, service, and authentic relationships.

We want to build a welcoming basketball community for enthusiasts, from beginners who might be intimated by the complexity of basketball rules but want to participate in team-based sports, to advanced players who are eager to keep building on skillset through recurrent 5v5 practice. In particular, we are dedicated to promoting recreational women’s basketball and increasing access and visibility for Asian women players. 

The HGSE Not Really Runners Club exists to help graduate students build sustainable running habits in a supportive community. The best motivation comes from good company.

The Harvard Graduate School of Education Ski & Snowboard Club seeks to build a welcoming, inclusive community around a shared love of skiing, snowboarding, and other winter activities. By bringing students together both on and off the mountain, the club will create opportunities to form friendships, explore New England’s winter landscapes, and cultivate a stronger sense of belonging within the HGSE community.

The HGSE Tennis Club aims to build an inclusive and welcoming community for HGSE students through a shared interest in tennis. The organization provides opportunities for players of all skill levels to connect through recreational play, practice sessions, and social events, while promoting physical well-being and community building across HGSE.
