Emergency Backup Care Benefit

Life is unpredictable, but your backup care doesn't have to be. As an HGSE student, you have access to Wellthy's backup care services for your children when your regular care is unavailable.

Don’t you hate it when your plans fall through? Even worse when it’s your regular childcare doesn’t work out, right? That’s why the Harvard Graduate School of Education has partnered with Wellthy to bring you the ultimate backup care solution for your children.

What is it?

Wellthy provides HGSE students with emergency backup care for those “uh-oh” moments. HGSE provides students with 10 backup care days per fiscal year.

When to use it?

Think of Wellthy’s Backup Care as your go-to for those unexpected hiccups like sudden school closures, a sick babysitter or caregiver, or for when you need to plan ahead for school holidays or caregiver vacations.

What type of care is provided?

• In-Center Care: Safe and vetted childcare centers for your little ones.
• Community-Based Programs: Trusted programs right in your neighborhood.
• In-Home Providers: Professional caregivers who come to your home.
• Personal Network: Prefer to use a family member, neighbor, or friend? You can, and get reimbursed for a portion of the cost!

HGSE largely subsidizes the cost of a backup care up to $250 per day. You are responsible for a $25 copayment per backup care day and any costs that exceed the subsidized amount provided by HGSE.
