Call for Stories
Double Take features storytellers from the HGSE community — master's students, doctoral students, faculty, and staff. Tellers who would like to be considered for the event should submit their story as an audio file by April 6. Submissions will be reviewed by the Double Take committee. Selected tellers will receive coaching to finalize their story before telling on the Askwith Stage.
FAQs for Story Submissions
Stories told at Double Takes should be in first person and about a person's lived experience. Stories can be related to the tellers path to education but can be on another topic. Previous topics have included overcoming adversity, identity and belonging, moments of courage, serendipity, mistakes, cross cultural experiences, and coming of age.
Stories should be 5-7 minutes long and the teller should be prepared to tell the story without notes.
Stories should be submitted as audio or video files here.
Stories are selected by the Double Take Committee which is made up of faculty, staff, and students. The commitee looks for stories that represent the community and a variety of topics.
Yes, online students are welcome to submit stories. If an online student is selected as a teller, they will be able to tell their story via zoom to the audience in Askwith Hall.
Please reach out to Rilda Kissel (Associate DIrector of Student Support Services) with any additional questions.
