HGSE students bring a vast array of backgrounds and experiences to the classroom and community. In recognition that many of our students may be new to the education sector and/or the U.S. context, the Teaching and Learning Lab (TLL) has created a series of resource guides, which provide background information on the U.S. education system.
Please note, these guides do not provide an exhaustive list of all the terms and topics related to each of the categories below. Rather, they are intended to serve as an easily searchable tool, so that if you encounter an unfamiliar term in one of your readings or in class, you can consult these guides for background information on that particular topic, or if you're curious about specific issues or themes in the field of education, you can search these guides for more context. We recommend that students download the guides for optimal accessiblity and greater ease in searching for terms.
