International Affairs
The Office of Student Affairs supports international students at HGSE in every aspect of their lives in the community. We also help to augment the international ambience of the campus by facilitating the engagement of international and foreign-born students into the life of the HGSE community. We are available to assist students with the following:- Counseling future, present, and former international students
- Advising about academic and non-academic matters
- Matching International Peer Advisors with incoming HGSE international students
- Facilitating social and cultural activities, including holiday parties, the Multicultural Festival, and other informal get-togethers
- Supporting student-organized speakers and events
- Providing information about potential funding sources for non-U.S. nationals
- Directing students to the wide array of available services and resources at and around Harvard
International Student Services
- Banking:
- U.S. laws have made it difficult for individuals to open bank accounts in the United States without a personal appearance at the bank. The Cambridge Trust Company has offered to permit our international students to open bank accounts while outside the United States, as long as the account is not accessed until the student's arrival in Cambridge. Other banks may be willing to offer this service, but to the best of our knowledge, have not done so to date. The Harvard International Office is providing this information regarding the services of the Cambridge Trust Company solely as a service to its incoming international students, and this is not meant to be an endorsement of the Cambridge Trust Company.
