Harvard Black Graduation Ceremony, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Radcliffe Yard
The Harvard Black Graduation will honor the academic achievements of Black Harvard graduating students and their families. All students are welcome to invite family members and guests.
HGSE Reception for Graduating International Students, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Gutman Reading Area
End of the year celebration for international students. All students are welcome to invite family members and guests.
Harvard Latinx Graduation Ceremony, 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. Radcliffe Yard
The Latinx Graduation is a stole ceremony that focuses not only on the achievements of students but also on those who helped students get to and graduate from Harvard.
Wednesday, May 29
Robing Ceremonies for Graduating Ed.D. Students, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Askwith Hall
Each advisor speaks personally about his or her graduating advisees. Doctoral students are welcome to invite guests and family members to this event.
Brunch for Graduating Doctoral Students, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Radcliffe Yard
Graduating Doctoral students are welcome to invite family members and guests.
Ed.L.D. Graduation Ceremony, 12:45 - 2:45 p.m. Askwith Hall
Graduates will be individually acknowledged by an Ed.L.D. colleague, and are welcome to invite guests/family members to this event.
C.A.S. Cording Ceremony, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Gutman Reading Area
Each graduating student is individually recognized by the CAS Program and presented with a cord to wear during Commencement. Families, friends are all welcome.
HGSE Convocation, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. Radcliffe Yard
Dean Bridget Terry Long welcomes all graduates and guests and introduces the afternoon's speakers. Recipients of the HGSE Intellectual Contribution Awards are recognized along with the Commencement Marshals, and the recipient of the Phyllis Strimling Award. The Class Gift, Morningstar Family Teaching Award, and Alumni Council Award will be presented. All HGSE graduates and invited guests are welcome to attend.
HGSE Commencement Block Party, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Appian Way
An HGSE community celebration featuring music, food, and more! All HGSE graduates are welcome to invite family members and guests.
Thursday, May 30
Academic Procession, 7:30 a.m. on Appian Way
Graduates who plan to participate in the Harvard University Morning Commencement Exercises must assemble on Appian Way and process to Harvard Yard as a group.
Commencement Morning Exercises, 9:45 a.m. in Harvard Yard
The deans of each school introduce their graduates as a class and President Bacow confers degrees upon the class as a whole. *Please note: graduates will not be awarded their diplomas here. Exercises include the traditional commencement speeches and orations. Harvard University honorary degrees are awarded. Each HGSE graduate is welcome to attend and may request two guest tickets only for this ceremony, with no exceptions. Tickets Required.
HGSE Presentation of Diplomas and Certificates, 12:30 p.m. in Radcliffe Yard
Immediately following the morning University Exercises, HGSE diplomas and certificates are awarded to all graduates (both doctoral and masters) on stage in Radcliffe Yard. Dean Long will speak; graduates will be individually presented with degrees and will walk across the stage. Graduates are welcome to invite any family members and guests. Tickets are not required.
University Alumni Exercises, 2:30 p.m. in Harvard Yard
Featuring presentations by President Bacow and the University Distinguished Commencement Speaker, Chancellor Angela D. Merkel. The program includes an alumni procession. Each HGSE graduate is welcome to attend and may request two tickets for this ceremony. Tickets Required.
The Morning Exercises will be held rain or shine outdoors in Tercentenary Theatre. Limited indoor seating with large-screen televised viewing of the Morning Exercises will be available for ticketed guests at the Science Center, the undergraduate Houses, and most of the Graduate and Professional Schools. The Morning Exercises may also be viewed via Comcast Cable channel 283 in Boston, and Cambridge. The Morning Exercises will also be web cast live on www.harvard.edu
In case of extreme weather that threatens public safety, ticketholders for Special Guest seating sections A2/SG, SG-1, and SG-2 ONLY, please proceed to Sanders Theatre in Memorial Hall to view the Morning Exercises.
All other ticketholders are requested to view the ceremony over Comcast Cable available at most of the undergraduate Houses and at the Graduate and Professional Schools. HGSE simulcast locations are: Larsen G08, 106, and 203.
