####  Here you will find information to help you prepare for your move to campus.

##  Billing

 All billing goes through Harvard University Student Financial Services. The ten-month fee will be charged in two equal installments. Half of the fee will be charged in July and the remaining half in December. Students can see the billing charges on their my.harvard.

##  Preparing for the Move

####  **Room Furnishings:**

 *Each dorm room has the following:*

- Bedframe and mattress: All HLS rooms have two-sided bed mattresses. One side of the mattress is firm while the other side is softer. Feel free to flip the mattress to the side that provides you more comfort. The mattress size is extra-long twin, 36″ X 80″ X 8″ (inches).
- Desk and chair
- Desk lamp
- Shelving
- Bureau and either a closet or wardrobe

####  **What to Bring** (or purchase once you are in Cambridge)**:**

- A bathroom caddy (for your toiletries)
- Towels
- Pillows and other bedding (for an extra-long twin sized bed. This size can be found online or at stores in the area.)
- Bathrobe
- Laundry basket
- Closet hangers
- Power strip
- Mini-fridge less than 100 watts (*optional*)
- Headphones/ear plugs (*optional*)

####  **What NOT to bring:**

- Heated blankets, hot plates, and any other heating devices
- Candles and incense
- Large, bulky suitcases (because they would need to be stored in your room)
- Anything that is extremely valuable to you

 Remember, there is no storage space on campus apart from your dorm room.

##  Move In Day 

###  **Wednesday, July 31st from 9:00AM - 5:00PM**

 HGSE OSA staff will be stationed outside of Dane Hall from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 31st, so you can pick up your keys and move right in. You will receive 1 room key and 1 mailbox key.

 **There will be movers** (*at no cost to you*) **there from 9:00-5:00 to assist with unloading your vehicle and moving into Dane Hall.**

 Temporary Parking: During move-in times, there will be short-term (20-minute) parking available on Everett Street (18 Everett Street, Cambridge, MA) for residents to unload belongings. If you need parking before or after unloading your vehicle, you may find metered street parking along Oxford Street and other nearby roads.

 We will have hand trucks or dollies available during the scheduled move-in hours. Dane Hall residents will need to return them promptly after use to allow their fellow students to use them, as well.

####  **Early Arrivals:**

 HLS and HGSE cannot accommodate early move-in dates or times. Building card access goes live on July 31st at 9AM for all residents.

####  Arriving After 5PM on July 31st OR Later in the Week?

 If you need to arrive after 5 P.M. on Wednesday or later in the week, Harvard Law School security will be able to assist you in accessing your room. Students who arrive after 5 P.M. (EDT), should make their way to the west entrance of Holmes Hall. Using your mobile phone, dial 617-495-5521 OR dial 5-5521 from the campus phone located at the building door entrance and follow the prompts. A Campus Safety guard will meet you at Holmes Hall, validate your government-issued identification and give you your key packet.

####  **HUID Cards and Card Reader Access:**

 The exterior doors of all residence halls have card readers and are accessible using your Harvard University ID (HUID) card. In addition, the Gropius stairwell doors that link between buildings also have card readers.

 On Move In Day (July 31st), if you uploaded your photo BEFORE the July 15th deadline, your HUID Card will be available for pickup when you pickup your keys. If you missed the deadline, you can go directly to the [Campus Service Center](https://campusservicecenter.harvard.edu/) to obtain your ID card. They are open Monday through Friday, 9A.M. to 4P.M.

 Residents who do not pick up their HUID card at Move In Day (but uploaded their photo by the deadline) may pickup their HUID card at the [HGSE Registrar's Office](https://registrar.gse.harvard.edu/) on or after August 1st. Please note that their business hours are listed on their website.

####  **Storage**

 HGSE and HLS does not have storage space for residents. If you find you need storage, there are a number of self-storages facilities in the greater Boston area.

##  Settling In (Once you are on campus)

####  **Food on Campus**

 On HLS Campus:

- Pub Grill (1st Floor)
- Harkness (2nd Floor)

####  **Mail &amp; Package Services**

 All Dane Hall resident mail is received and processed through the HLS Mail Center located in the lower level of [WCC](https://hls.harvard.edu/facilities/buildings-overview/wasserstein-hall-caspersen-student-center-the-clinical-wing-wcc/). All resident flat mail is placed in your personal mailbox accessible with the key provided during check-in. Residents will receive an email when packages are ready to be picked up.

 We kindly request you **do not proceed** to the HLS Mail Center to pick up packages **until you have received an email from the HLS Mail Center.**

 All mail must be addressed as follows:

 Hand trucks are available year-around to assist in transporting packages to your room at the HLS Mail Center. A replacement fee of $100 may be accessed for unreturned hand trucks.

####  **Student/Tenant Parking**

####  **Maintenance Requests** 

 Residential students should submit all maintenance requests directly to the Facilities Management Office.

 To report a **non-urgent request, choose any of these methods**:

 1. Call the Facilities Office at 617-495-5521

 2. Vist the office in-person on the 1st Floor of Holmes Hall

 3. E-mail <FACMGMT@law.harvard.edu> (e-mails are only checked weekdays, 9am-5pm)

 To Report an **immediate emergency request**:

 **Call the Facilities Office at 617-495-5521**.

 DO NOT SEND AN E-MAIL. E-mails (including those marked as “urgent”) are not monitored outside of business hours and should expect a reply within 1-2 business days.

 Please make sure you are specific with your request, as well as the building and room number you are referring to. If you are calling in an urgent request, please be prepared to remain in your room, so staff can respond immediately to assist you.
