Students with mobility impairments or other medical conditions that may significantly affect their housing needs are strongly encouraged to submit their accommodation requests and supporting documentation as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, April 17, to allow sufficient time to explore and coordinate appropriate housing options. As an important reminder, HGSE does not own or manage student housing—securing housing is the responsibility of each student, whether through Harvard Affiliated Housing or the private market.

1. To begin the housing accommodations process, please request an intake form by emailing <hgsesupport@gse.harvard.edu>. (If you are writing from a non-Harvard email, please include your name in the subject line.) An automated email with the intake form will be sent to you within 1-2 business days. After you submit your intake form and appropriate documentation, the Assistant Director for Accessibility will contact you to schedule an access meeting.
2. Students should obtain documentation from a licensed provider with professional expertise in their disability that includes: the diagnosis, functional limitations, and a clear explanation of why the condition requires adjustments to the student’s housing. This documentation will be reviewed as part of an interactive process to determine reasonable accommodations and does not guarantee that all requested accommodations will be approved. Please review the [documentation guidelines](https://osa.gse.harvard.edu/support-services/accommodations-accessibility/documents-guidelines) for more detailed requirements.
3. The Assistant Director of Accessibility Services will meet with the student to discuss their housing needs and the impact of their disability for housing accommodations. Please email <hgsesupport@gse.harvard.edu> to set up a time to meet. Accommodations are determined based on an interactive process between the student and the Accessibility Services Office.
4. Once eligibility for housing accommodations have been determined, the Assistant Director of Accessibility Services will facilitate implementation of the accommodations outlined in the meeting.
