    Works to increase knowledge of the cultures, histories, environment, and contemporary affairs of Latin America; to foster cooperation and understanding among the people of the Americas; and to contribute to democracy, social progress, and sustainable development throughout the hemisphere.
- [Harvard Committee on African Studies](http://africa.harvard.edu/)   
    A group of thirty-one faculty charged with the coordination of teaching and research on Africa and the planned development of African Studies across the University. Harvard offers over 115 courses on Africa each year. Harvard's research institutes annually sponsor African research by over 50 visiting scholars.
- [The Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES)](http://cmes.hmdc.harvard.edu/)   
    The coordinating body and the primary source of support for courses and academic programs that cover the region from Morocco and North Africa to Turkey and Iran. Home to key Middle Eastern Studies faculty.
- [The Semitic Museum](http://www.semiticmuseum.fas.harvard.edu/icb/icb.do)   
    One of the Harvard University Museums that contains collections and information on the Ancient Near East. Free and open to the public.
- [Asia Center](http://asiacenter.harvard.edu/)   
    A centralized organization for the multitude of Asia-related projects and programs that connects Harvard University faculty, researchers, and students.
- [Fairbank Center for East Asian Studies](http://fairbank.fas.harvard.edu/)   
    Dedicated to the study of China’s literature, art, and history as well as the society, politics, and popular culture of a new and rising country. The Center sponsors workshops, conferences, and meetings that are open to students, faculty, and the broader public.
- [Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies](http://rijs.fas.harvard.edu/)   
    Supports research on Japan and provides a forum for related academic activities and the exchange of ideas. It seeks to stimulate scholarly and public interest in Japan and Japanese studies at Harvard and around the world.
- [The Korea Institute](http://korea.fas.harvard.edu/)   
    Devoted to the support and development of Korean Studies at Harvard. Operates as the central hub for Harvard faculty, students, leading scholars in the field, and visitors to join together as a community for the study of Korea.

- [Harvard University Native American Program (HUNAP)](http://hunap.harvard.edu/)   
    Involved in research, teaching, and outreach on issues affecting the lives of indigenous peoples. Maintains a strong emphasis on student support and development.
- [W.E.B. Du Bois Center for African and African American Research](http://hutchinscenter.fas.harvard.edu/dubois)   
    Offers an array of lecture series, readings, colloquia, conferences, and forums, as well as research, archival, and publication projects pertaining to African Americans.
- [Harvard Journal of Hispanic Policy](http://www.harvardhispanic.org/)   
    An annual graduate, student-run, non-partisan review that publishes interdisciplinary works on politics and policy-making as these topics affect the Latino community in the United States.
- [Harvard Migration and Immigrant Incorporation Workshop](http://sociology.fas.harvard.edu/faq/migration-and-immigrant-incorporation-workshop-soc-309)   
    Workshop participants share a common interest in international migration and the incorporation of immigrants into host societies. The primary purpose of the workshop is to circulate works-in-progress in order to elicit feedback and suggestions for improving scholarly work such as dissertation chapters or proposals, journal article submissions, interview schedules and conference papers.
- [Committee on Inner Asian and Altaic Studies](http://iaas.fas.harvard.edu/)   
    Established in the fall of 1972 for the purpose of stimulating and integrating instruction and research in the history and cultures of the peoples in the steppe, mountain, forest, and oasis areas between China, Russia, western Iran, and Pakistan.
- [The Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice](http://www.charleshamiltonhouston.org/)   
    Addresses contemporary challenges in an increasingly multiracial society. Works to ensure that every member of society enjoys equal access to the opportunities, responsibilities, and privileges of membership in the United States. Serves as a critical bridge between scholarship, law, policy, and practice.

    Provides resources for women’s studies and has compiled, in conjunction with the Committee on Degrees in Studies of Women, Gender and Sexuality, the Harvard University Guide to Gender Related Courses, which lists courses on women’s and gender studies across Harvard’s ten schools.
- [The Harvard Gay &amp; Lesbian Caucus (HGLC)](http://hglc.org/)   
    Maintains a network of alumni/ae, faculty and staff of Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges and the Harvard Graduate and Professional Schools in order to develop, nurture and defend Harvard's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. HGLC is an independent organization that does not represent the President and Fellows of Harvard College (Harvard University) or the Harvard Alumni Association.

    A study of America's changing religious landscape. Through an expanding network of affiliates, the Project documents the contours of our multi-religious society, explores new forms of interfaith engagement, and studies the impact of religious diversity in civic life.
