Discover HGSE: Exploring the Academic Experience

Join the HGSE community for Discover HGSE: Exploring the Academic Experience, an exciting day of learning and discovery on Monday, August 26.  HGSE faculty members will welcome students to campus with an entire day dedicated to academic curiosity,  intellectual enrichment, and helpful introductions to models of professional learning here at the Ed School.  Guided by members of our faculty, you will learn with fellow entering students about key topics in education — and will pick up ideas about how to make the most of your year academically and professionally.  Let your intellectual imagination soar on August 26; the day is designed to be fun, engaging, and low-pressure and takes place before course previews and selection.

Do you know how the school system is structured in the United States?  Are you interested in learning more about the damaging effects of stereotypes?  Have you always been curious about how cognitive science helps us better understand our own learning?  Not sure how testing and assessment works in the U.S.?  Want to know more about how we can create more diverse and equitable schools?  These are just a few of the many topics you can explore with your classmates and faculty during Discover HGSE!

Discover HGSE: Exploring the Academic Experience will kick off under the Radcliffe Yard tent with an HGSE faculty “8x8” signature event.  Join fellow classmates to hear 8 faculty members present for 8 minutes each on their cutting edge work in education!  Following the faculty 8x8, students may choose to attend multiple, faculty-led sessions and experiences on a wide array of engaging topics throughout the day.
